Friends

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.  Proverbs 18:24

I am blessed with a handful of friends and several close friends at this time in my life. Today I would like to tell you about one in particular.  She is on my mind today since she is in the hospital.

This friend of mine has the same birthday as me; and even though she is 4 years younger she seems the same age as me. [Hopefully that makes me younger, not her older.] When possible we like to double date for our birthdays.

We have been acquaintances since elementary school, and became much closer when she married a guy in my church. Speaking of church - she is a Pastor’s kid and I married a PK; so she already understands some things that I am learning.

We were pregnant together all 3 times. That is a bonding experience like no other! Each of her children are just a couple months younger than mine, but opposite in gender. I have boy, girl, girl; and she has girl, boy, boy. Now our children go through the same phases at the same time.

She has taught me a lot about how to be a friend. She was friendly to me when I was not so friendly, and she has encouraged me many times with a cheery “Hello! How are you?” whether it’s via IM, cell phone, or face-to-face.

To my friend - May God bless you and yours.  I have faith in you!

Real friends are those who, when you’ve made a fool of yourself, don’t feel that you’ve done a permanent job.

A friend is a person with whom you dare to be yourself.
