A Celebration of Skirts 1 of 2

I’m joining Rachel in this celebration by showing what skirts I wore this week. It was actually started by Daughter at Home on July 31. So I’m a little late…

The following is what the author of Daughter at Home wrote and why I would like to join in on the fun!

Okay, I admit, I love skirts. I believe in modesty, and that entails (I believe) women wearing skirts or dresses. However, I don’t wear skirts begrudgingly, all the while wishing I could wear something else. I don’t wear skirts because I have to, but because I love to!

So, the point of this post isn’t to talk about modesty or to discuss the ‘dresses only position’… but rather as an introduction to “Celebration of Skirts Week“.

multi-color skirtOn Sunday, August 5, 2007 I wore a pink dress - guess that doesn’t count.

Monday I wore this light weight cotton multi-colored skirt. It is great to hide spots from little hands. On Monday I ran errands, grocery shopped, swept and mopped the bathroom, kitchen, and dining room, took care of the kids, etc.

Tuesday I wore the denim skirt. This one usually gets worn once a week. It’s from the thrift store; I sewed the slits shut and hemmed it.denim-skirt.jpg Today was office work, a tiny bit of house work, and some garden work.

I’m including a picture of me climbing out of the pool so you can see my swim skirt. It is a split skirt that I made out of a navy blue knit material which doesn’t cling as bad as cotton. Recently I put some elastic in casings that go around my calves; that just seems to help it not float up. This private pool (at my in-laws) is 3 1/2 feet deep around the edges and 4 1/2 feet deep in the middle. We swim as a family and have a great time!
