My name is Jendi and I don’t really like shopping. There, I said it! I feel so much better.
I’ve been like this since I was a little girl. Really! Just ask my Mom. I used to hide under the clothes racks and beg to go home.
I never shop without needing something specific; and I’m not at all fond of shopping by myself. If I have to shop - I enjoy going with my husband.
It’s probably partly because I don’t like making decisions and shopping is full of decisions. Should I, shouldn’t I? Which color? Which style? Will so-and-so like it? On and on it goes! Terrible!
Thrift shops are somewhat fun, but again I’m usually on the look out for something in particular; and I don’t go too often. I don’t feel so bad spending money at a thrift store because if it ends up being a bad purchase it usually wasn’t very expensive.
I do grocery shop, of course; but I have a wonderful husband that will take a list and coupons and even do that for me sometimes. I kind of enjoy going to the discount grocery store. Again, the discount store gives me more freedom in shopping because if I can’t choose between two 99 cent items I can get them both without feeling guilty. Plus, we can at least try both food items.
Are you ready for this one? I don’t like Wal-mart. Shh! I know that’s next to a sin for some people, but my husband and I rarely go there and we really prefer to find other stores to shop at. There’s reasons for that; but that’s another post.
On a semi-serious note - It’s so true that you will be more content with what you have if you don’t shop as much. When I go out and around I see all kinds of stuff that I didn’t even know I needed, but all this stuff would suddenly make my life so-o much better.
I have progressed through my life to be a better shopper and enjoy it a very little bit - on certain occasions. Although there is one store that we like to take the kids to walk through…our local Bass Pro Shop.
I have never actually bought anything at this store, but have walked through it numerous times. It’s kind of like going to a museum. They have stuffed moose, bears, deer, mountain goats, raccoons, ducks; tracks in the concrete floor, hunting trophies, even a hippo head mounted on the wall. Their stuffed animals are arranged in interesting ways - like the moose fighting the bear, the wild cat catching the bird, the bear with the fish in its mouth, etc.
Anyways, the kids love to go there. It’s climate controlled year round; and it’s free! Who can beat that?
My kids favorite thing to look at is the giant fish tank with huge fish in it. Some of the fish are pretty; but those huge catfish are U-G-L-Y!
Now online shopping…that I can get into!

I loved when my family lived in Grapevine, Texas. We used to take the kids to The Bass Pro Shop as something to do and they loved it. Now we live in Michigan and the nearest thing we have is a Cabela’s cross state. We miss it. P.S. Our family too avoids Wal-Mart. Cheers!

There is a Cabela’s a little ways away from us that we would like to go to as a day trip sometime - just haven’t done it yet.
Thanks for reading! Jendi
