Passing the Bug

Thanks for visiting! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed using the feedburner link to the right.

So the other day my son comes to where my daughter and I are in our house. “Mommy, there’s a bug over there.” I reply, “Take a shoe and go squish it.” So he turns to his sister, “Here’s my shoe - do you want to squish the bug?!” “Yea,” she replies; as she runs off and does just that.

Then the next day they are both squatting down in the dining room looking at a different bug. “Mommy, this bug is dead.” “Yes,” I reply. “Mommy, it’s belly is up and it’s not moving.” “Yes,” I reply again. Then Daddy says, “Take a tissue, pick up the bug, and put it in the trash.” So, my son goes and gets the tissue, starts to bend down, changes his mind, stands up, hands the tissue to my daughter and says, “Here you can do it.” “Okay,” she says and promptly gets the bug and throws it out.

Someday I’m sure he will take care of his own bugs, but for now it’s a good thing he has his little sister around to take care of them. :-)
