One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
It’s another way of saying “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” which is in Phillipians 4:19.
Of course we have to remember the difference between needs and wants.
Sometimes many questions arise in my mind. Things like “Should I buy this and God will provide the money for it?” or “Should we have the money before we buy it?” Is it relying on God either way? What does He want me to do? “Does God want me to be debt free or does He want me to trust Him to pay the debt?” “Am I being a good steward of what God has given me if I buy this?”
I have heard many stories from full-time Christian workers that tell of miraculous ways God has provided things for them. Usually a necessity. Often the story will include how much they needed it; or a “just-in-the-nick-of-time” story. How many things have I missed out on because I didn’t wait on the Lord? I thought it was a need that I had to have filled and I figured out an earthly way to fill it. The Lord will still take care of my needs; but maybe He had one of my desires right around the corner waiting for me and I circumvented His perfect plan.
Ever day I sincerely pray that I will do what God wants me to do - that I will follow His will. It seems like a lot of people just want to seek God’s perfect will when they have a big decision or a life-changing event. I believe that God has a will for my life that involves the day to day things like which road I should take, which store I should shop at, which food I should eat, what I should blog about, what I should or should not buy, etc.
Sometimes I just need to learn to be content. I Timothy 6:6 says “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
To summarize my wandering thoughts…I believe the prayers and needs of those people were answered because they had faith, patience, and a good prayer life as they sought to live God’s perfect will in their lives.

I so agree! In fact, I recently read this passage from Psalms in relation to some major decisions we are pondering, and meditated on some of the same ideas that you did. God IS able to provide and will guide and provide in relation to our obedience to the step He has placed before us. It’s just so important to make sure we’re putting our foot ahead of us in HIS plan and not ours, right?
