One night recently my husband was working through the evening and so I had to do baths and bed time all by myself.
I was talking on the phone and mentioned about giving the kids baths to the person I was talking to. Somehow my children, that can’t hear me tell them to go to bed when I’m 3 feet away from them, heard from the other room about bathime.
So they converged upon the bathroom and started asking to go first. Remember, I’m still on the phone. They are now arguing with each other about who is going to take a bath first. While they are arguing they start removing their clothes so when I turn around the baby has a shirt and diaper on, but that is the only clothes in sight.
I hang up the phone and they are still arguing about who is going to go first while the baby is pulling on her diaper and throwing toys in to the tub. I decided to just put them all in at one time. That did not leave enough room for the oldest one to play with his boat so he climbed back out. Yes, I made him get dressed.
Meanwhile my middle child, who was adamant that she should go first, announces that she is done. She was only in for one minute! She wants to be washed so she can get out and get her pajamas on. I very calmly told her “No, you have to stay in the tub longer.”
I’m such a mean mother!

Bath time is a crap shoot at our house. The kids either run from me in terror, like I suggested they walk on hot coals or they do like your kids did and fight over who goes first. You never know what you’re going to get here.
Happy Birthday to someone special in that house!!!!
I am going to miss you in the nursery!!!
