My second child is three years old today. Truly the days are long and the years short.
I wrote the second part of this post yesterday - getting it all ready to just post today after I added a picture.
Then I had a very frustrating experience with her today and I’m ready to put her up for adoption!
A week ago I scheduled a picture appointment for her at 5:00 today. I told her about it then, explained through the week, showed her the advertisement picture of the place, talked about nice smile vs. cheesy smile, etc., etc., etc. I set up a special hair cut appointment and made arrangements to get her to the hair salon; had new clothes and shoes ready for the picture.
She wouldn’t smile. She did exactly what the photographer told her to do as far as where and how to sit. Then she sat and stared. I begged and threatened, cajoled and commanded…nothing. Half an hour later we just left. I was so-o frustrated!!!!!
My other two children were in their dirty play clothes so I didn’t want their picture taken. I had thought about changing them, but it was a busy day and it didn’t seem like a priority. I really thought she would cooperate.
Since we had planned to go out for a family dinner we didn’t feel like everybody should be punished with a lousy leftover supper at home because she wouldn’t smile. I dried my tears and we went to Friendly’s.
After supper I ordered the most chocolate dessert that they had. It was Ghirardelli chocolate with chunks of brownie and chocolate syrup. Delicious!
So, Lord willing, this too shall pass.
Meanwhile, here’s the second part of the post that I typed up yesterday - which is a good thing. Plus, a picture of her - smiling, no less.

I remember when my son turned three and it was such a big deal. I had a child above nursery age for the first time! Now as my daughter practices holding three fingers up and two down I wonder where the past year went.
- My oldest daughter loves music and knows many songs. She also likes to make up her own songs to tunes that she knows.
- She constantly lines up her seems-like-a-hundred babies on our couch. When we asked her what she wanted for her birthday guess what she asked for…yep…a baby doll.
- At two and a half years of age she began to like pink. Everything pink. It has died down a tad, but that pink preference does keep popping up.
- She knows exactly how to torment her brother.
- Helping Mommy is one of her favorite things.
- She is a klutz. I say it lovingly, but truthfully. She will trip over a toothpick on the floor. Plus, she will not just trip and fall down, oh no, she will somehow manage to flail her arms and legs and either bump into something else or knock down something else.
- She can go on the potty and put on her shoes; mostly dress herself and her babies; sing her ABC’s and count her numbers [most of the time in the right order].
- She is a way for the Lord to teach me patience.
- She is a blessing from the Lord.

Oh, my, what a story! I have to say, God made these children so adorable so that we would love them when we least feel like it, that’s for sure! :o) Caleb is not even crawling yet, but I already imagine what life will be like when he is older. At least you got some chocolate and a good story out of the day
And, yes, children are a blessing from the Lord. Just keep repeating that to yourself :~)

We didn’t discuss birthdays of children… My youngest turns three tomorrow the 6th. This is too funny.

[...] I took my 3 year old daughter to a studio for pictures and she smiled! Yea! It was much better than the previous episode. [...]
