Today was a beautiful fall day for us with a bright blue sky, fluffy white clouds, and a breeze blowing.
We loaded up and headed about 30 minutes away to farm country. Our destination was a farm that has a corn maze and lots of other things for the kids. The kids had gotten free
tickets for participating in the library reading program.
They weren’t real keen on the actual corn maze. It was just like a long walk for them. They can’t read to play the games and are too short to see the signs anyway. At one point our son thought we were REALLY lost; but we made it out.
The kids loved the other attractions. There was a lawn sized tractor with 2 carts behind it for kids to ride
in; goats to pet; bunnies to pet; a pig race to watch [we even hollered sue-ee!], roosters and chickens everywhere [even saw some peeps];kids pedal tractors, a big slide made from a plastic corrugated pipe actually buried in the side of a hill; a kid size hedge maze; a straw maze; a corn box [instead of a sand box]; a miniature horse to ride; and an area with a tractor frame and tires half buried in the ground for kids to play in.
The setup they had for the goats was really neat. They had a fenced in area with an old truck in it [you can see the truck in the back of the picture with the horse]; then there was a walkway up and over the open area to the side barn roof. I really wanted to see the goats go across - and at the end I got to! The man there said they have never had one fall off. I have a picture for you because I
frantically waved at
my husband and pointed so he would take one. [He ended up taking about 10 - aren't digital cameras wonderful!]
We even went on a hay wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch and picked a big pumpkin to sit outside.
The kids did well. It was not overly busy. The weather was great. Praise the Lord we had a great time. Then we all came home and took naps.
