Yard Sale, Pug Puppy, and Fire Trucks

This morning my husband and I were awakened by the sound of rain. That wasn’t a particularly good thing for the yard sale and other plans we had today. Praise the Lord the rain stopped. I wouldn’t have minded if He would have held off the humidity though. Thank you Lord that it didn’t rain.

One of the first visitors to our yard sale was a little pug dog. So cute in her little pink harness, but no tags. I hadn’t seen her before, but I was guessing she was one of the neighbors. She was a very friendly puppy; obviously well taken care of. The kids were having great fun with her. She was shorter than our cat; who looked out and wasn’t happy to see a dog in our yard.

The question was, “Should I tie her up? Hold on to her? Will she go home by herself? What if she goes in the road and a tractor trailor hits her?”

A nice lady customer at our yard sale would have taken her home right that minute. I took the nice ladies phone number and locked the dog in our fenced in back yard. We all knew that it was a valuable dog and figured someone should be along soon.

In about half an hour the panicked rightful owner came and asked if we had seen a dog. She lives right around the corner of our block and hadn’t realized her fence gate was open when she let her pug puppy out. After thanking us she carried the playful pug puppy home.

air force fire truckLater in the day we went as a family to a nearby park where the fire company had set up many things to do and see. There was a bucket truck, a smoke house, a water rescue vehicle and boat, an airforce fire truck, fire truck rides, a accident rescue demonstration, etc.

We watched as the fire fighters prepped and lighted the inside of an old minivan so the fire truck could come put it out. The first fire fighters didn’t douse all the fire so that they could stuff wood and hay in to make it burn some more. It made one big burn barrel. Then we got to see the air force fire truck in action. It was so hot I wished they would have aimed that water over our heads.

So glad to come home to air conditioning even if it is only window ones.

How scary for the poor owner. Iknow my doggie has gotten out and I am always so panicked when I can’t find her. What a great person you are for holding on to her!
