My 19 month old has had diarrhea for a couple days, and I have that pretty much under control. You know how a toddler gets when they are sick. She just wants to hang on me. The chiropractor could tell that just by what was out of place in my back.
Then this morning my 3 year old daughter woke up crying. “I can’t walk. It hurts!” She was quite emphatic about it so I carried her to the bathroom and then to the couch. We think that she has a strained/sore/pulled muscle in her right thigh/hip. Such conciseness, I know. That is where she tells us it hurts, and there are no bruises. She was really playing hard and long the day before because of the unusually warm weather…
By 10:00am I couldn’t take it any more.
My 5 year old was being good. He was getting things for the 3 year old. Then the 19 month old would take them away. Of course, the 3 yo’s leg hurts too much for her to chase her little sister. So the crying would restart.
When the 19 mon old pushed the 3 yo over she just lay there crying, “Help me, she pushed me, my leg hurts.” I was so uninterested. “Use your arms and push yourself up. Your arms don’t hurt.”
I’m trying to get things together so I can get everyone out the door. The 19 month old is pretty much glued to my skirt. The 5 yo is bouncing off the walls, “Are you ready, Mommy? What’s taking so long?” The 3 yo is crying and trying to crawl to get her shoes because I thought maybe it would loosen her leg up.
I carried the 3 yo to the car. I couldn’t have her waking the whole neighborhood with her screams of pain.
It had only taken me 45 minutes to get out the door.
I drove to my in-laws, dumped the 3 yo in the living room chair, dropped the diaper bag, and ran!

Aww, First I’ll ask how you’re doing. Then…How are the kids? Feeling any better?

I so understand those days. I’m glad you have in-laws that you can drop the kids off with so that you can have some time to gather your wits about you. I was half way through reading your post and wishing I lived closer to you so I could come and relieve you for a couple of hours. Try watching Jon and Kate plus 8 on TLC and you’ll feel better too. (Mom, Dad, a set of 7 year old twins and 3 year old sextuplets.) God is so gracious to give us only what we can handle. Even if there are days we disagree. Today should be better!
