This is sneak preview of what is planned for my church’s Sweetheart Banquet. For those of you in my church who are reading this [Hi Terri!], I’m not revealing everything.

This Saturday night the fellowship will be held in a dining car from a local railroad. Anyone out of high school was invited. Our Pastor has always encouraged singles to, “Bring Jesus as your sweetheart.” Unfortunately, if you didn’t sign up before the deadline we won’t have any food for you.

The meal will be first. Then a game, a visiting Pastor as special speaker, and more games.

Each guest will have a paper with the menu and a couple games on it to play whenever they want.

This is what I have in mind for the big games right now. I have been known to change my mind. If you have a sensational banquet game please leave me a comment.

• A kind of musical game. Either Name that Hymn or a team competition Sing Along. For the Sing Along the team will pick a paper with a word on it and have to come up with a song with that word in it.
• Steal my Heart - Everyone will have a heart by their name card with a silly/dumb joke on it. If you see someone with their legs crossed you can steal their heart. The person with the most hearts at the end is the winner. This one will go through the meal.
• There are 2 other games. One involving candy hearts. The other involving paper tearing. These I can’t reveal because I don’t want anyone practicing ahead of time.
• For the door prize I will use balloons. Each balloon will have a paper in it. Only one paper will have a message on it - the winner! The balloons will serve as decoration until the end.
