You won’t believe how I mixed up the time today. Well, maybe you will…
I’m blaming it on the fact that the kids did not nap as long as usual. They got up and I went into normal routine for Wednesday supper time and getting ready for church.
I distinctly remember looking at the clock when I put the rice on and thinking, “Quarter after! It has to cook 20 minutes. That’s going to push us close.” The problem is that I did not look at the hour hand.
The kids and I finished supper. Mr. Wonderful wasn’t home, but he mentioned that he might have to work late so I didn’t think much of it.
I got the kids washed off, clothes changed, and teeth brushed before I headed to my room to brush my hair.
When I walked in to my room I said, “Oh no.” I’d caught sight of my digital alarm clock and it said 5:30 instead of 6:30! I thought, “Maybe my clock is messed up.” Then I looked at my husband’s and it said 5:30 also! “Oh no.” I ran out and checked my cell phone; cause we all know that they’re always right on time. It had the audacity to say that it was 5:30!
So instead of pushing it to the last minute like I thought I was as I rushed all the kids, I was a whole hour early! My husband wasn’t late after all.
All’s well that ends well, I guess. The kids were happy to watch a Diveo [DVD/video for those unfamiliar with our language], and I was happy to get the dishwasher loaded.
Have any of you done this? Please don’t tell me I’m the only bird brain that gets the wrong time firmly set in mind and ignores the hour hand.

That’s funny! I haven’t done it yet, but it sounds like something I would do. I understand though what you mean about short naps messing up your internal clock. It totally makes the day go super slow.

I do silly “Mommy brain” stuff like this too! I only wish I got all of us ready accidentally more often.

Well, I have done it - recently - but I was the other way around. We were getting ready for church Sunday night. The kids were all dressed and almost ready to go …. We were just kinda relaxing till it was time to go — I just didn’t realized that we should have left already!! Aaahhh…. ok everyone get shoes on - “where are your shoes??” “Now get your coats on - what do you mean you can’t find your coat? Where did you take it off?” Go find it(never mind I’ll find it) we have to leave 5 minutes ago!! We made it and just in time too.

I can only wish my mistakes were early ones like yours. Mine are usually like Faithers and we end up behind. Life is never dull with a “Mommy” brain. LOL!
