Today I made a trip to the pediatrician’s office. Their phone was busy for 20 minutes before I could get through, and they have more than one line. Their office was hummin’ today! The nurse mentioned that this time of year is usually bad, and this year is worse because the weather got so warm and then cold again.
I actually take my children to a nurse practitioner. She’s been wonderful! Not only do we agree on parenting techniques; she is very considerate of the fact that I have no insurance.
To make a long story short…My 21 month old has asthmatic bronchitis.
This is a picture of what we got from the doctor’s office. Minus the lollipop that was on the end of that stick. They loaned me a nebulizer and gave me samples of the medicine to put in it. Praise the Lord!
If you think of me pray that the asthma will only be connected to the bronchitis and it will go away and stay away as she gets healthy.
Any of you have experience with a nebulizer? Any tips?
I will try to write a story/happier post later today. I know that sick stories get tiresome. ![]()

Thanks for the shampoo tips. I hadn’t thought about rotating shampoos.
Praying your little one is well soon and that the asthma is not permanent.

Jendi you and yours are in my prayers. How scary to bring home such a machine from the doctor. But what a praise that they loaned it to you and gave you samples!

oh boy. the dreaded “nebby” as we affectionately call it! ours is usually in a closet, but this season, it has its own special place in the living room. hannah, 4, is now quite professional at giving it to herself and knowing when to turn it off.
i pray this will not be a recurring treatment and that u will be done with it after this bout with bronchitis!
what meds are u using for it?

Hi there from Maine
My asthmatic son is now 21 and he did start with Asthmatic Bronchitis which developed into asthma.
Just be on the lookout for tell tale asthma signs after this illness and I was told to treat him aggressively at the first sign of trouble and not to wait and ask for samples…they have more in those medical cabinets than they tell you….We had a nebulizer which he had to use for years with our son….
Sometimes the medication in the nebulizer makes children (and adults) rather hyper, that is common, but it does open their airways and once they are able to breathe better they usually can sleep better. My son was a cough maniac when he was a kid with his asthma. He wouldn’t wheeze much but he could cough for literally hours. I learned to pray alot, not wait to treat symptoms, learned to advocate for my child, by pressing the pediatrician for better care, and pray and pray…The good news is this…he is taller than me today at 21 with a deep voice and just this weekend…came home from college full of muscle and whiskers and although he still has asthma, it is not cramping his life in any way at all today….
Good luck I remember those days, when they are small their little airways are so much smaller….hang in there ….my prayers are with you….
