All this medicine around the house makes me remember a time when there was no infant medicine in the house.
The problem was that it was in the early AM hours and my 6 month old baby was running a fever. There I sat in the glider holding the baby, crying, and praying.
My gallant husband ran [literally] two blocks to the grocery store. The new Daddy returned, measured the medicine, and helped me get it in to the baby.
As I look back on it I realize that it was basically nothing. My firstborn was fine by morning. I was so scared because it was the first time I went through anything like that. I’d done a lot to have that baby in my arms. He turned my life upside down and made sleeping through the night a memory; but I loved him, and was [still am] scared to have anything happen to him.
How did the pioneer women do it? “Yes dear, I’ll leave everything and everyone I know to go with you. I’ll live with you in a dirt house where there is no town, doctor, or grocery store.”
One thing I know. If needs bring us closer to the Lord they walked hand in hand with Him.
