Mother & Baby

This poster art caught my eye recently. I walked away from it three times before I finally decided to buy it. It cost $2.oo.

Why did I walk away? The same old things: no room, where will I hang it, why do I want it, it’s not exactly useful…

Why did I go back? The picture made me remember feelings I’d had before. Something in it appealed to my emotions more than it appealed to my eyes.

It also made me think of scenarios and questions such as…

  1. Is it early morning? Maybe the baby woke up and is done sleeping. The mother could use some more sleep, but her mind is already busy thinking of all the things she needs to do.
  2. Is it a late sunset? Maybe the mother is waiting for her husband, the baby’s daddy, to come home. She’s worn out, been home by herself all day, and ready for adult conversation.
  3. Is somebody leaving or somebody coming?
  4. Is the baby sick, sleepy, happy, ready to play?
  5. Has the mother been walking the floor with a crying baby? Maybe the view out the window quieted the baby and she’s relishing the quiet.
  6. Maybe it’s just time to get up. They are enjoying a quiet hug and a view out the window before they head to the kitchen for breakfast.
  7. Do you think the baby is a girl or a boy?
  8. Is it raining, sunny, or a snowy view?

What do you think? Any scenarios or feelings come to mind for you? Do you think I’m just crazy? It would be neat to find a verse that could go with the picture.showandtellsmall.jpg

When my husband asked “Why did you buy it?” I spit all this stuff out. He kind of stared at me and said, “You think too much.” :D

I understand the feelings it evoked. I think anyone who’s a mom would understand. Yep, I would have bought it too. It’s a beautiful print.

Hubby is right, you are a deep thinker. Not a bad thing though. My questions would be about the artist….Was he the spouse? Is it a she? Did they love the subject as much as it looks like they do? Lovely poster…Jennifer

I love this particular print. I have always thought that it was very early - and the baby awoke too soon - with too much energy. So as to keep others in the house from being disturbed, the mother decides to hold the baby to keep it quiet. They are looking out the window at the birds that are starting their morning singing - and gathering their breakfast.

Maybe I think too much too - but this print was in one of the rooms at the hospital - when I was in labor and waiting to deliver a baby - I guess I have a right to be thinking too much then.. Thanks for sharing.

you certainly have a point there n i’d end up thinking too much if i dwell on this too! lol but in my personal experience, i think it looks like they are waiting for daddy to come home from work. :) anticipation.
