Since moving is the biggest thing on my mind right now I hope you don’t mind that I post about it again. The other things on my mind today are diapers and groceries. Don’t worry, I won’t write about them today. Maybe tomorrow.
Why are we moving?
- We prayed and feel that it is what the Lord wants at this time.
- Our neighbors’ houses are very close on each side. To make some long stories very short: 1. The man on one side has recently become very mean and antagonistic to us. We have refrained from turning him in to the local code authorities for several things. 2. The teenage and college age neighbors on 3 sides use foul language and play their nasty music loudly. Not the environment I want for my children.
- Our goal is to use the money from the sale of the house to wipe out debts.
Where are we moving?
- We are planning to stay in the general area where we are right now. If the Lord leads us to another geographic area you will be among the first to know.
- The church basement/prophet’s chamber will be our first stop. Lord willing we will be in a new house in six months. We plan to take care of our debts, close accounts, and accumulate a hefty down payment for a new house.
- We are praying for a wonderful new place. We don’t mind if it’s another fixer-upper. We would really like a little more land, more space in the house, and space between us and the neighbors. [Besides, the borough we are in now is a major pain to deal with.]
I think that pretty much fills you in on the details.
There are some comments with great moving advice on my previous post. Thank you! I’m going to work on a compilation of advice to post later. Feel free to add any more advice you can think of.

I just moved as well. There was really a lot to do – moving all my stuffs and putting them in place in my new home =)
Just a suggestion (since I am in this predicament now!)….Start making a list of things that you use every day and need to have. Right now I keep finding things that I need to have but don’t and since my stuff is not here yet I can’t get it. Thankfully mom is right next door so we just take stuff from her if we need it but it is frustrating when I don’t have what I need!! What am I talking about we spend 90% of our time at Mimi’s house anyway!! Prayerfully we will get the trailer sold soon and be able to get our own place here(one our size)! Good luck on your move and God Bless!
Jendi,
How wonderful that you are able to live in the Church for a time. What a wonderful ministry to have available. I’m excited that you’ll be able to not only get out of debt but have a means to save up for a down payment too. I’ll be praying for just the right place for you. Of course Hudsonville, MI is a wonderful place. Hint, Hint! We too have college age kids next to us and some contenious neighbors down the street but all in all they are not terrible. God has been good to us. I agree with Faithers, really think about what you can’t live with out because you don’t want to be running to storage or to the store all the time. Have each person pick a couple of things that maybe aren’t necessities but that they love so that you aren’t totally deprived while in transition. I always have some books and decor available. Things that make me feel at home even in transition. The hardest thing is when transition last longer then anticipated. I never intended to stay in the duplex we are in for more than a year, but we have. All my good dishes are packed and I miss them but I don’t have a place to store them in the kitchen (or anywhere else) so they stay packed.
