Living By Faith / Jumping Off a Cliff

They just kind of jumped off the cliff and said, “Here Lord, catch us!”

That statement was made about my husband and I in 2004.

That was the year we quit our jobs and traveled with an evangelist couple for 6 weeks.

We had everything ready in case the Lord wanted us to continue in the ministry. It was not the Lord’s will at that time, but it was a great experience.

The Lord did catch us. If you choose to look at it that way. I look at it more as doing the Lord’s will in faith.

Instead of cliff jumping I think of it the following way.

I’m walking right towards the edge of a cliff and stepping off. With that step I am trusting the Lord to provide the way to take me to the other side.

I prayed and have a peace that I’m to be on the path that leads to the cliff. Sometimes I can see what awaits me on the other side and sometimes I can not.

There is no need to know how He will get me to the other side of my personal cliff. I just need to believe that He will.

I think some people say, “Yes Lord, I will go this way and take this path.” Then they crawl to the edge, turn around and climb down the first side of the cliff, trudge through the valley, and climb back up the other side of the cliff.

They made it to where the Lord wanted them; but they took the hard, time-consuming way.
