Somewhere I read an article written by a photographer who was complaining about the mothers that “take over” the photo studio.

That would be me.

I positively know that I can get my child to smile better than that photographer using-the-high-squeaky-voice that-doesn’t-really-care and just-needs-a-job-to-get-through-college.

The point the article made did make sense. Just let them do their job. It’s what they are there for.

So, when I took my 2 year old to the studio on Friday I turned a chair and planted myself in it. I knew it was a good studio, the lady was nice, and she seemed interested in taking good pictures.

I was tempted - so tempted!- but I mentally whipped myself into staying in the chair. I did speak up a couple times, but managed to stop myself from waving my arms or grabbing another toy off her shelf.

The resulting pictures are very nice and the stress level was lower for me.

Here’s my beautiful just-turned-two year old.
