This past week without my husband ya know what I missed the most? Actually it was 5 nights and 5 days, but anyhow…
I missed the ability to call him on his cell phone.
He was camp director at our church camp. The camp is in the mountains of Western PA and there is no cell phone signal except for an occasional AT&T signal – which we don’t have.
I’m so used to being able to leave him a voicemail, send him a text message, or just call. He’ll usually return the call within a half hour.
I know that people, and wives in particular, survived for years without cell phones, but I’m glad that my hubby and I have them.
The kids and I were reading Little House in the Big Woods and Pa was supposed to be home by dark, but didn’t make it because he thought the stump was a bear. Ma just got supper, put the kids to bed, and sewed. I guess the Lord knew what era is the best one for me to live in.
I have tried to back off on calling my husband. I practice restraint…occasionally. I don’t call and ask how to fix the computer anymore, where the cherished toy is, nor how I should do my hair. Kidding!
There were many other things I missed about him being gone for a week. It’s funny how much I do different. I actually watch the gas gauge and check the door locks when he’s out of town.
But now he’s home and I’m back to leaving the truck door hanging open, and not having a clue about the gas.

I think it is wonderful that you are missing your husband. It shows how much you really love him. I have the same feelings when my husband goes out of town and we make an effort to talk each day he is gone. I think I would be upset if I couldn’t talk to him.

Wow you don’t do those things when your hubby is around??? I don’t think I would know what to do! I have to check the doors and watch the gas and well, everything even when hubby is around!! But then we always knew that you and Terri’s hubby’s did more than mine did!! hahahaha! Oh well, I just thought that was funny when I read it!
I too am thankful for cell phones! I am surprised at how I can not get through the day without hearing my husbands voice. When we do talk, it is maybe 15 seconds. A “how are you” or “I love you” is plenty enough to get me through the day.
I’m afraid I would be a mess if I had no contact with him for FIVE days….and five nights

Gotta love cell phones. It’s the only thing that helps me keep my sanity when DH is gone for the week. When he’s travelling I call him several times a day. I try to restrain myself when he’s actually working though. Haha.
I used to take it for granted when DH would fill up the gas tank, take out the garbage, etc. Now I’m thankful when he is home to do those things. Although, because he travels so much I do my fair share.
aww.. as hard as it may be ~ sometimes it’s nice to actually miss someone.. you realize just how much you love them and all the little things that make them so special : ]
