When I saw Kelly Eileen Hake’s name in the upcoming list of books I immediately asked to read her book.

I’ve read a bunch of her stories that were published by Heartsong Presents.  This new book, The Bride Bargain, is her debut novel.

I enjoyed the story of determined Clara Fields who got bargained into trying to find a wife for compassionate Dr. Saul Reed.  She succeeds, in a round about way, even though he wants to go back to Baltimore, and she wants to go farther west.

The orphaned girl, Midge, who was rescued by Dr. Reed is my favorite character.

In my opinion it was a bit slow until chapter 7 and I could easily predict the ending, but that didn’t make me stop reading.

Kelly Eileen Hake is a young author with potential.  I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of her books.
