I enjoy going to the hair salon with my two girls.
Right now I’m imagining all you extra frugal mothers out there gasping. Yes, I pay to have my little girls hair cut.
- It’s a fun girl time.
- It costs about $30.00 every 8 weeks, and that includes getting my eyebrows waxed. Plus, she curls the girl’s hair and they actually sit for her.
- It prevents disasters such as this one that Wendy and her craft scissors participated in.
- My husband encourages it.
- God says in I Cor. 11:15 that our hair is our glory, and we like to have nice looking glory.
I’m already dreading the day when Amy retires. She has cut my hair since I was in middle school. She’s still young; I think she started cutting hair when she was a baby. [That's in case she reads this because I told her that I was going to blog about our hair cuts.]
She gave me my first perm when I was 12 and my hair was down to my waist. She was about 9 months pregnant and I didn’t want her to go into labor before my perm was done. I’m not telling how old her son is now.
Towards the end of my high school years and my early married years I wanted to save money so I “left” Amy and got my hair cut by students and other salons closer to me. Jumped around trying to find someone to do a good job.
My friends and readers, it’s not worth it. The final straw was the lady that chopped off my hair at chin level. I humbly crawled back to Amy and vowed to never stray from her scissors again. My husband gladly gave me the money so he wouldn’t have to listen to me whine and cry about my hair.
Amy graciously took me back and has let me come back through missed appointments, crying babies, and showing up on the wrong day.
I’m a bit better at remembering the apointments now. Besides my husband reminds me when the girls start peering through their bangs.
So thank you my favorite hair dresser, for knowing how long an inch really is and for steering me and my daughters to ever nicer hair styles. May you live with good health for many years, never get arthritis, and personally train a replacement.

Amen! :o) My friend Sarah does my hair now, and I’ll never go to supercuts again!!! My honey thinks it’s worth it to pay more [not to hear my crying] too. I don’t know what I’ll do when it’s time to PCS…

Does Amy make house calls?? I’ve been looking for a hair person since we moved 2 years ago, and haven’t found the right one yet.

Yeah, I haven’t found anybody yet who really gets my hair and knows how to cut it right. Since I have naturally curly hair that can also be straigtened, it takes just the right hair cut to have it work both ways. This past cut I wanted some layers added and showed a specific picture and the girl cut the top super short, but left the length (which I wanted to stay about the same) and I endud up with a cut that looks like I was wearing a hat when I straigten it. It reminds me of the little girl, I think Emily?, from Clifford the big red dog. And that was at a place that charges $40 a haircut!

Thanks for the link! If we can save just one beautiful baby from getting the disastrous home haircut I gave my wee girl, we will have done a great service! I can hardly wait until her bangs grow out just a bit more so I won’t be too humiliated to take her to the hairdresser. As it is, I couldn’t bear to tell them that I wrought the mess that is her bangs!

You are welcome. My one daughter had a hair cut like that in the past, but I didn’t want to tell everybody.
