When we walked to our door after Sunday church we found this insect right beside the door frame.
Only the fact that my children were with me prevented my scream from escaping.
It’s about 2 inches long and doesn’t move very fast. If you want to see it larger than life just click on the picture.
A day later we saw it at the other side of the building. I’m hoping it was the same one.
I’ve lived in this area my whole life and have never seen one of these before. Do you have any idea what it is?

I’m not a big fan of insects but I have no clue what it is! It looks very odd..
It is very odd looking with the spikes by it’s head. Reminded us of a triceratops.

It’s a wheel bug, and is in fact something you want hanging about your house. It’s an insect predator and will eat lots of annoying bugs.
Totally harmless, and beneficial.

Thank you so much! That is a relief to know, and I’m really glad we didn’t kill it.

Ok, wishing I hadn’t blown it up to view it larger than life. Made me shiver! Yuck.

Now you know why I bit my tongue to not scream.
It eats “bad” bugs though.

Its appears to be a harmless one. Insects are the worst enemies.
Proper pest control should be taken because Insects can cause a lot of damage.
