A Forensic Entomologist Solves the Case

There’s just something about forensics that’s interesting to me.  I don’t think I’d want to actually do it, but I enjoy reading about it.  It’s amazing how much can be found out after the deed is done.

Less than Dead by Tim Downs is about forensics, insects, politics, murders, and dogs that can smell cadavers under ground.  It’s not as spooky as I just made it sound.  It even has a touch of romance.

I learned a bit about forensic entomologists because that’s what Nick Polchak, the hero of the book, teaches and does for a living.

The heroine trains dogs to guard and to smell specific scents while searching.  Another amazing thing.

The two of them found two whole unmarked cemeteries that linked past and present.  The finding upset several other characters.  And the story is on…

It’s a good thing that I don’t pick book tour books by the cover.  If I would have I would have missed Less Than Dead.  When it arrived I pulled it out of the envelope and said, “Oh, it’s a guy book.”

Turns out that I liked it in spite of the fact that I was grabbing my head and groaning during the part where she breaks her own nose on purpose.  My husband was shaking his head, “It’s only a book.”

Yes, but I have to find out what happens now.
