To my children:
There are several rooms in this apartment where you are welcome to play.
Why do you have to be within 5 feet of me?!?!
I appreciate that you like and love me. I’m glad I’m one of your favorite people.
Just please go play in another room. I promise not to go anywhere.
In fact I’ll probably stay around longer if you do go to another room.
Thank you,
Your loving (and half insane) Mother

Wow! I can SOOO relate to this! =)
I thought that with having 3 they would just go and play with each other. No such luck.
I know the feeling! Why is it that anytime I’m cleaning or doing something I don’t enjoy the kids are off playing and being good, but the minute I sit down at the computer they come running for something.
I know! They never want to play when I’m in the middle of scrubbing the bathroom.
LOL. That’s so funny!

Laugh it up now, but remember. I’m sure your puppy likes to be with you.
You mention “children’ – let’s try for ‘child’ – and physical space. I have one 3 year old and I am a stay-at-home dad. When there is no other playmate around, it’s like the strongest tractor beam in the universe between child and me.
He’s me constant shadow – but I have to remind myself that I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I try to remind myself frequently.
Mine don’t have to be right next to me, but in the same room, or at least on the same floor of the house. If I go down to the basement, it’s “Mom, are you staying down there? What are you doing” as they follow me. Same if I go upstairs. Or outside.
I can relate.

Anywhere we go…they are there!
Well, this is ur 24… er 25 year old friend who u always forget about.. just weighing in on this haha… My older ones actually go play by themselves… its the younger ones that are always attached to me but thats what the gates are for! WAHOO! BEST INVENTION until they learn (and little woman is) how to climb over… oh i dread this moment!
You have some climbers – that’s for sure!
Hahaha …. That was great! I am feeling that way right this moment! We brought the baby home today from the hospital and my 5 year old wants to help me do EVERYTHING! I keep telling her I will let you help me just wait till I ask for help…Please just back up a little bit!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHH!!!
I can’t wait to see your baby! The way my kids surround Terri’s 1 yo (and they see her a couple times a week) lets me imagine how your kids are right now. Maybe you can teach the 5yo to change diapers. LOL
My little kiddo just got to the age that he can be left in another room by himself without me having to worry too much. Thankfully, he isn’t the type that likes to play with plug sockets or put things into his mouth.
All parents need a break from time to time!!!
I so agree! Glad he keeps things from his mouth.
