Added Some More Culture to My Life

Saturday night we went to a dinner party and ate from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.  That’s a pretty big deal for my husband and I who generally take 10 minutes to eat lunch.

It was my first fondue dinner, and I really enjoyed it.

We started with apple and french bread pieces to dip in a swiss cheese mix.  Then our host and hostess had beef, chicken, shrimp, and lobster to cook in a boiling meat broth with a side of mixed vegetables.  There was even a little bowl of butter over a tea light to dip our lobster or vegetables in.

Lastly…oh my…the dessert. was. marvelous.  Pots of chocolate!  And a plate full of sliced strawberries, bananas, pound cake, marshmallows, and raspberries.  Delicious.

Plus this was an adult only dinner party.  No kids.  I didn’t have to cut a single piece of meat!  For me or my munchkins.

It was hard to know how much I ate because I usually check the size on my plate.  I just tuned in to my stomach and ate till I felt comfortable.  Well, except for the chocolate.  I ate a couple more strawberries than I probably should have; but they were so-o good!

It was people from my husband’s work and ya just never know, but the others were pleasant and comfortable to be around.  They explained things and answered any questions I had without making me feel dumb for asking.  There was lots of laughter and that is always the sign of a good party, right?

Have you had a fondue party?  Have you gone to a fondue restaurant?  Like it or hate it?

How exciting! We actually have a fondue party every year for New Years Eve. We LOVE fondue!! We do a swiss gruyere fondue, a cheddar fondue, garlic infused hot oil fondue that we dip raw shrimp and beef into and have sauces on the side and of course we do a chocolate fondue. Keep on doing the fondue!

I’ve totally never been to a fondue dinner, but there is a fondue restaurant down here that’s all you can eat. of course, it is also ridiculously expensive, but I’ve heard that it is pretty fun. I think it’s called the Melting Pot?

The dinner you attended sounds like it was alot of fun.

That looks so delicious! I once had fondue at a German restaurant and just about died. It was soooo good. Haven’t found anything to replicate that. It was so wonderful.
