I received this scanned newspaper article via email. The author is Carolyn Hax writing for the Washington Post. Well said Carolyn Hax! I love the line “giving my forehead some keyboard.” I personally had to pull my jawbone off the floor after reading the question.

Oh my gosh. Thats all I have to say. I am going to copy this as a post on my blog, if you don’t mind. I think the writer’s response was excellent and exactly describes the day in the life of any mom! I understand some people won’t really “get” it until they have kids, but gosh at least have a little empathy!
JENDI. This is genius. Thank you so much for posting this.

As a stay at home mom of 3 children under 5 and pregnant with baby #4 I’ll tell you what I do all day. I sit in my pj’s eating chocolate and reading my favorite books. Isn’t that what every good mom does? That lasts all of 10 seconds and then my children find me. lol They love me for my chocolate. I’m sorry but is she for real?! That is just…WOW…that’s all I can say. It’s obvious she has no idea what is involved with taking care of children.
HA HA! That’s a wonderful article!! I guess people without kids don’t take the “details” of life into consideration when they are judging how others spend thier time. There’s alot that goes into raising a family and it consists of many things, not just cooking and cleaning!!
Thanks for sharing!
I think this woman needs a good dose of trading places, however I’m not willing to guinea pig my kids out to her. My kids mean too much to me.

Great article! So glad you posted it, Jendi. You know, having been single without kids as well as married without kids I can understand how people without them would or could think that stay at home moms have it easy. The columnist’s response was priceless.
WOW!!! Hey maybe my hubby needs to read that!! lol…. He will on occasion ask me what I do all do and most times I just look at him.. Go ahead ask me again if you really want to know I will tell you…. Cleaned up after 4 kids, dealt with a fussy infant, took Lys to school and picked her up, fed the kids, did the laundry, and now we add take care of the puppy!!! He doesn’t ask me that as much anymore, thankfully!!
Great article thank you for sharing.
Beautiful.
What a crazy question! At least the author had the guts to write what she did! Some days I’m doing good to get a shower, much less talk and do things with friends. I guess you could say life with kids is just full. Full of laughter, fun, struggles, and prayers.
