If you like Dee Henderson’s series about the O’Malley’s you will like Against All Odds by Irene Hannon. I picked Against All Odds just from reading the title and description. Then when it arrived I was excited to see Dee Henderson’s endorsement on the front cover.
I really enjoyed this story about a top FBI agent and a high ranking diplomat’s daughter. The daughter, Monica Callahan, has been estranged from her father for years, but that doesn’t make any difference to the terrorists that use her to threaten her father. Monica’s life is turned upside down since she has to be guarded 24 hours a day by the FBI.
The elite FBI agent, Evan Cooper, starts out with no heart for the case, but loses his heart to Monica. It tears him apart when cruel men kidnap Monica…and I can’t tell you any more…I don’t want to spoil the ending.
Irene Hannon did a great job of portraying Monica as a woman of faith even as she struggles with forgiving her father. I could relate to Monica. She handled things the way I would handle things. At least the way I would like to handle things. Loved the clues in the phone call, too.
It was predictable enough to keep me happy and unpredictable enough to keep me glued to the page. I hope the rest of this series is just as good.
