The Underwater World is Scary, Amazing, and Beautiful

During our last vacation we visited Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.

We got there an hour and a half before they closed in February so there were not many people there.  All the fish were there, though, and that’s what mattered!

My 2 year old was scared half the time because the pathways are darkened and she’s scared of the dark.  She kept saying, “I want to go home.”  I kept saying, “We’ll go in a little while.”  Over and over and over.

I got to see a huge sea turtle before it swam under the bridge.  When we went through the underwater tunnel the sharks swam right past and the 6 foot long swordfish laid on the tunnel right over our heads!  Of course he laid over the tunnel and blocked the light when we were trying to take a picture.

See who else we saw there?  It’s Dorie!

Michelle is a published author and blogger who recently visited the Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle beach.  From her pictures it looks like they saw a lot of the same exhibits we saw in Gatlinburg.

  1. The aquarium is a wonderful place to visit. Those pictures are amazing. You 2 year old may be scared now, but hopefully she will get use to the aquarium and start to love it.

    I know I do!

If we ever stop moving about the country for the DH’s job I would love to have a salt water tank in my home. I love tropical fish! I especially love Doris and Nemos!
