If you are an unmarried girl I have something to add to your list of requirements for a husband. Find one whose parents own a time share. Without having access to my in-laws condo we could not have taken half as many vacations as we did [and hope to take in the future].
Here’s some pictures of the 2 we stayed in during our recent trip to Tennessee. Pardon the sloppy beds. All these pictures were taken on our way out the door because when we arrived we were dead tired.
Master Suite in condo in Nashville:
Kids room – with their own adjoining bathroom! Hallelujah!
Master suite in condo in Pigeon Forge:
Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen area in Pigeon Forge condo:
Both places had the dining table over a carpeted floor; that’s not a smart move with kids. Thankfully the carpet survived my children because we made them eat at the bar.
I don’t know if the upstairs neighbors appreciated the serenade of Jesus Loves the Little Children at 8:30AM, but our girls loved the enclosed porch that is just through those sliding doors.
Have you ever vacationed in a condo? Know someone with a time share? Do you go camping? I’m just not a camping type of girl – unless it’s a fancy RV.
Cyndi and her family like to go camping. She has some tips at her blog.

When we lived back home (West Coast…we’ve recently moved to TX), we got “in”on some great condo deals at my in-law’s timeshare, too. Oh…some of the places we saw! It’s the only way to do it with kids!

Very nice condo. Those beds are so messy, makes me not want to read the post… I’m joking! lol!
Brian’s parents have a timeshare too, but I think yours must be more flexible – they have to stay in the same place all week. I do like using them, but I wouldn’t want to own one, especially because of the lack of flexibility of most of them and the yearly fees that are ridiculous. That said, I’ve been spoiled by them, especially being on a special diet, having a kitchen is sooo nice. It is often possible, though to rent condos very reasonably on the off-season and when you have more than 2 kids it’s often cheaper, especially if you are over the one hotel room limit.
Oh, and those particular condos are beautiful! And I also think that it’s so dumb that they always have the table over carpeting.
My parents have a time share also .. it has been nice being able to take a vacation and not have to spend so much to find a place to stay!! They are trying to sell theirs now though! BUMMER!!
I really like the one in Pigeon Forge I have been to that one a couple times and one in Nashville!!
Here are the answers to your questions
I have stayed in a million dollar condo in FL (Amelia Island) and loved it!!!! Yes I know someone with a timeshare – friends of ours have one in Mexico. And lastly, yes I camp and like to camp. I prefer to use the in-laws mobile home though!
My husband’s parents had a timeshare at a place in Branson – and if it hadn’t been for that, we wouldn’t have had a honeymoon! We also stayed at a timeshare in Keystone a few years ago – that was realllly nice!
