Book Review of Mary-Margaret

Lately I’ve found out how hard authors work to write, publish, and sell their books.  Therefore I always try to be kind in my reviews while staying honest.

Unfortunately I just didn’t like Lisa Samson’s Book Titled The Passion of Mary-Margaret.  I’m not interested in the Catholic faith and I don’t like the way it jumped between reminiscing and real time.

I do not think that Lisa Samson is a bad author.  I would try another of her 19 books sometime.

Here’s the back cover blurb:

When Mary-Margaret Danaher met Jude Keller, the lightkeeper’s son, she was studying at convent school on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay. Destined for a life as a religious sister, she nevertheless felt a pull toward Jude-rough and tumble, promiscuous Jude.

After sojourning as a medical missions sister in Swaziland, Mary-Margaret returns to the island to prepare for her final vows. Jude, too, returns to the island, dissolute and hardened. Mary-Margaret can hardly believe it when the Spirit tells her she must marry the troubled boy who befriended her all those years ago, forsaking the only life she ever wanted for a man she knows she’ll never love.

I chuckled a little over your honest review. I haven’t read this book, but I do agree with you – I have no interest in the Catholic church or books about it. I have read some of Lisa Samson’s other books and they are good, though. :)

Thanks for the info. I think I will look up another of hers – with a story line I like.

I haven’t read this book and I don’t agree with a lot of what Catholicism teachers but I find the Catholic faith very interesting. I always ask my Catholic friends about their traditions and the reasons behind them. If you’ve never studied Advent, which is typically celebrated by Catholics and Lutherans, you should learn more about it. Have you ever visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC? It’s breath-taking. There’s a lot of world history associated with the Catholic church as well. Do you have any friends who are or were Catholic?

I agree that some cathedrals are beautiful. All of my friends who were Catholic are very glad they aren’t any more.
