Balance – Forget about it

Lately it seems like I’ve heard/read a lot of women worrying about balance.  Balance the home, balance the family, the blog, the social life, the checkbook, etc.  It’s my opinion that mothers of young children should forget about balancing everything.

Maybe my life will be balanced and my house beautiful when my children are older [though I highly doubt it knowing how many things I want to try.]  For now, instead of worrying about it, I just prioritize and do.

  • My spiritual life should be first priority.
  • Next my husband, and
  • taking care of my children physically and emotionally.
  • Homeschooling is next.
  • Housework after that.
  • Then I blog :)  Although sometimes it changes places with housework.

I’m a big fan of lists, routines involving the children, and my timer!  What have you found that helps you?

  1. Hear, hear! Balance is a myth! Priorities yes! Schedules are a must if you want to do anything more than the urgent!

I schedule and try. Sometimes it works and sometimes it flops.

  2. Great video too!

    Thank you!

  3. Honestly, one of the biggest helps to me is just realizing that I’m not supermom and I can’t always do it all. I do what I can do and what I have to do and then try not worry too much about everything else.

    Yes, me too!

  4. I hadn’t thought of it that way. I think in terms of goals to accomplish – and to make them doable, I naturally have to prioritize, because it is aaaaaall too apparent that I’m no supermom! Forget balance, just let me find time to blog! lol

  5. Well, said!! Sometimes I feel like I will never get anything done that I want to…. I just keep telling myself someday I will do that, maybe!! LOL Just get the necessary things done and love doing them — or work hard at loving it cause it is what the Lord has given me to do!! :-)

Great comment! Today I’m working hard at loving it.

  6. I`ve read your post about video blogging, and I can say that you should do it always)
I like this idea to make such video – you`re very pretty, and have nice voice. Good luck, I`ll come here more often.

  7. I agree! Forget about Balance! I try to do the best I can, but I think today, we expect way too much from ourselves!

There’s nothing wrong with having a high goal, but we don’t need to beat ourselves up if we don’t reach it.
