A Man Brave Enough To Change Diapers

I have another tip for any single girls that read this blog.  Here’s a requirement for a future husband -

Make sure he’s willing to change diapers.

It may not sound like a big deal now, but it will be.  Wait until you’re sick with the flu, pregnant with another child, or flat out exhausted. Your husband will suddenly take on heroic stature by saying those little words that every mother loves to hear, “I’ll change that stinky diaper for you.”

Orange Man Wearing A Tie, Using A Mop While Mopping A Hard Floor To Clean Up A Mess Or Spill Clipart IllustrationLast night my husband took on super hero stature in my eyes by delaying his schedule to clean up 2 problems. Two!  The first one was a leaky wall and wet rugs.  He mopped, he moved furniture, he hung up rugs, and he strategically positioned a fan.  The second mess was in the underwear of the 2 year old that is almost potty trained – ‘nough said.

He deserves bonus points because he did not tell me until the messes were cleaned up!  There was no coming to me and asking what to do; no trying to help with the other kids while I took care of the 2 year old.  He just cleaned up the messes!  Hallelujah!

Can’t help lovin’ that man o’ mine!

WOW!! I am lucky if I get help with the other kids so I can clean up the mess!! Hubby has NEVER changed a messy diaper and only changed a handful of wet ones (and those were my oldest none since then!!).
He is watching all 3 of the boys tomorrow for Lys and I to go for Girls night hopefully there won’t be any diapers needing changing (he’ll probably go over and get Mimi!!) :-)

I knew that and I pray for you. :) That’s why I checked with my guy before marriage.

Sounds like you got a keeper! I’m very impressed. My man never had too much of a problem changing diapers.

I’ve met fathers before who have never changed a diaper. Some have even refused to. Others had wives who never asked them to. I can’t imagine either scenario. I just can’t see how a man could never change his child’s diaper. Like you said, at some point the wife is going to be sick or busy.

I don’t expect him to do if often, but it’s nice to have some help now and then.

Sounds like you got yourself a keeper there! =)

I am truly blessed with a hubby that doesn’t mind doing the diaper thing…or any other part of the child-rearing really. I often take it for granted and need posts like this to remind me that not everyone is as fortunate.

However, I will give him huge kuddos for not even mentioning it until it was all done. That would make me swoon. =)

    I swooned, and I gushed! :)

I love having a hubby who will change diapers once in a while. He’s even cleaned up messes in underwear too. With my son, I never changed a diaper when we were in the hospital. Between the nurses and hubby I got to sit and relax. :D
My hubby even cleans up puke which comes in handy since I’m pregnant and the smell of it makes me want to toss my cookies. I suppose he does it because he’d rather not have to clean up my mess too. lol
Did I mention that he gives the kids baths too? It all started when I was big and pregnant with my youngest child. He’s continued to do it and although it’s only once a week it’s a HUGE break for me since I’m pregnant and getting big again. :p

Yes, you picked a good helper – unless he’s playing the wii. LOL My man has to help with the puke – same reason. Clean up one kid’s mess; or two messes after I get sick.
