The Key To Waiting

Is finding something to do in the mean time.

That is especially true with young children!  I’ve often gone through my repertoire of finger plays, songs, rhymes, funny faces, etc. trying to occupy my children while we needed to wait.

Running Down The Sidewalk

One night we had to wait for Daddy to be done in the music store.  The sales man that knew a lot of good info and liked to talk was there.  Good for Daddy. Not so good for Mommy.  Do you know how many things there are in a music store that I don’t want my children touching?  A lot.  Maybe I should say things I don’t want to pay for if my children break them.

It was almost closing time and a lot of the other businesses were closed so we went out and took advantage of the big sidewalk.  I was trying to keep thoughts of enjoying the moment in mind, but it was a struggle.  Meanwhile Daddy was inside nodding and nodding.

I was standing there wondering if I could turn the time into a Tuesday’s Unwrapped post when I saw this sign.

met life sign

At that point I felt that I had more than met it.  I’d been run over by it.  So I played Pollyanna’s glad game. Glad for my family.  Glad for healthy children.  Glad for a vehicle.  Ecstatic when Daddy was done!

Hahahaha! I LOVE the last sentence! LOL.

I know that this must be why Joseph won’t go with me to either the bookstore or the music store. He gets as antsy as a kid. LOL.

We made a deal. He doesn’t have to go to the library with me, and I don’t have to go to the home improvement store with him. :)
