Bacon Is So Good

My man is home today.  Technically he has off work, but I’m hoping that he will do things around the house, so that means he’s not really off – doesn’t it?

baconThis is a perk of having him here for breakfast.  He doesn’t mind cooking the bacon.  We’re also having waffles.  I don’t need to tell you that they’re the toaster kind.

I love bacon!  At my parents house bacon was a side dish. One pack would last a couple days.  There would be 2 or 3 pieces per person.  On our honeymoon my husband suggested we have bacon sandwiches.  ”Bacon sandwiches?”  Oh they were good!  It felt so decadent to eat a whole pound of bacon for one meal!  My man likes his bread toasted to almost burnt with crunchy bacon in between.  I like my bread warmed and cheese on the chewy bacon.

We still use one pack per meal, but there are 5 of us to eat it now.  How fast does bacon go in your house?  Are there more people that prefer it chewy or crunchy?

I don’t think I have ever in my life cooked less than an entire pound of bacon at once. And those recipes that call for “four slices of bacon” crack me up…can you imagine?

My housemate and I are constantly buying bacon and we’ll go through it within the week. Granted, she’s as skinny as a rail, so she’ll eat more, but it’s not unusual for 8 pieces to be popped into the oven just for the two of us :) .

We all like our bacon crispy. Jay buys a 10-pound box from work and I split it into 1-pound packages to freeze. We always make a pound at a time and it’s gone within a day or two.

Okay Jendi I saw your tweet and I thought for sure that someone had hijacked your twitter account. I come here and find out that is not true but not only that you made long for bacon! Shame, Shame on you! Just kidding. I love bacon. My husband and I when we were first married and alone experimented and put fresh bacon cut up into alfredo (the ragu, jar kind) and put it over rice. This is still one of our favorite meals. Fattening yes but oh so yummy! I like crispy bacon!

We almost always eat the whole package at once. We just had BLTs the other day – love them. And I like my bacon crispy, but not hard.

Um yeah – in our house, bacon is one of our favorite accompaniments to many dishes. As a matter of fact I’ve got a pot of potato soup on the stove right now – and without the addition of bacon, my family won’t eat it. =)

Hubby likes it chewy – I like it just crispy (cuz then I know it’s done). My girls both love bacon. One of our favorites. We could easily eat a whole package

Hmmm, bacon. Joseph tends to buy it in a 5-lb. pack about once a month. See, he really only makes it on Saturday mornings, since that is when he cooks me breakfast. Unfortunately, with Joseph, Titus, and I all liking bacon, we go through one pound each weekend.
Titus and I like it best when cooked on the stove and still chewy, but Joseph always wins as the cook so we end up eating it after it’s been cooked in the microwave. oh! and Joseph likes his crispy.
