Hi, Jendi...My family has been reading the Dreamhouse books since the first one, and I can't imagine trying to jump in at book four. After Gatekeepers, I read a review from someone who'd started with that book, but she liked it anyway. I thought, wow, I'm not sure I would have liked it without reading the others. There are so many little nuances that play into the building story.

It really is a good story. If you read from the first one, I think you'd get the endings. They're part of the fun. I've always thought of them more as a serialization of a very long novel than a series of novels. I love the way the characters are growing, both as individuals and as a family. I think you'd like the books, so I encourage you to go back and read from the beginning.
