Build and Grow

My children LOVE the Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinics!  I thought they were just a summer activity, but the clinics are the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month all year round!  It takes about 15 minutes with our 3 munchkins, and we usually check to make sure the Lowe’s bathroom is still working.C tapping

So far my children have built a helicopter, boat that actually went on the water, bus, and ball toss.  A parent has to sign a liability waiver and then the Lowe’s employee gives each child a kit that includes all the supplies and instructions.   The table is full of hammers and goggles, and if you’re lucky they might have aprons that the kids can keep.  So far we’ve only gotten 2 aprons.A pounding

My favorite part is the badge.  If the child takes their finished product and shows it to the Lowe’s employee they get a certificate [that we promptly lose] and a cool round badge [that I take control of so it doesn't get lost].J hammering

It’s a fun, family time for us, but I have seen a lot just dads and kids there. Makes me think it would be a nice activity for a dad to give a mom a morning break. [hint, hint]

I found out about this through Alicia’s blog.  Lowe’s has no clue who I am and has not given me anything to write this.

Have you ever done an activity like this?

Home Depot does the same thing!

  2. Jendi, your children are beautiful. I know you enjoy this time with them. Don’t blink, they will be 19 & 17 like mine.

My kids keep asking me to take them to this. I do not relish the though of taking 4 young kids to it myself though. Maybe hubby will take the 5, 3, and 2 year old and let the baby and I sleep in. :D

  4. It looks like a very a fun clinic. I bet that the kids really learned, I can tell by the photos. They seem interested and eager to learn. This is a very nice post. Thanks!
