Another Week Another Spill

Detergent spillI don’t think we’ve managed a whole week without spilling something since my first baby was born. There have been small ones like the drops that come out of a sippy cup. Medium size ones that don’t make it to the edge of the table. Large ones that get 2 people’s clothes, the table, chairs, and floor. Super large ones like the whole 2 quart pitcher of Kool-aid. Yup. Freshly made. All over the floor. Mommy cried.

Most of the spills have been done by the children, but they haven’t always been the children’s faults. There was no way I could blame them for my glass of water ending up all over my husband’s lap when we were at a semi-fancy restaurant for a date night. I tried to spin it that I just missed them and their ways, but it didn’t really work. This week the spill was while I was in the shower at 8:00 this morning. Wanna guess what it is?

Laundry detergent. Here’s what I can piece together from 3 stories. They were “dancing” to Gene Autry music and my son was rolling – for some strange reason. He rolled into the detergent which must have had a loose lid. Somehow they didn’t notice it right away and my daughter managed to have 3 large spots on her nightgown before they set the bottle up.

They got rags to clean it up. When I saw them my 3 year old was wiping the spot where the soap was and then wiping the carpet on the other side of her where the soap wasn’t. Go figure.

It’s not like this bottle was in the middle of the floor. No, it was right beside the sewing desk. Obviously that didn’t stop it from being spilled. It also didn’t stop the dog from rolling in the soap. As my husband said, “At least it’s a good smell this time.”

Welcome Monday. I didn’t miss you.

Any of you have spill stories?

My 3 yr old is the one that always spills things!! Usually on the table then down to the floor! The dog loves it because she gets to lick it up!! :-) I have spilled the whole gallon of Kool-aid on the floor too!! Yup, my fault and it was one of those day and all I could do was cry… then of course clean it up!

  2. OOO nice one. Just read your post – and spill a whole a bottle of grape juice all over my pants and T-shirt!

The other day I had *just* finished mixing up some orange juice, and what happened? My son decided he wanted to “help” mommy pour it into the cups and before I was even able to turn around, he had grabbed it from the counter and managed to spill the entire pitcher (half gallon) over the kitchen floor, under the fridge, and only got one drop on himself. He was then crying, “I”m sorry! I”m sorry! I”m sorry!” I know it was an accident, but I was trying not to cry, too… I really wanted that orange juice, lol! Anyway, at least the floor got a good mopping; it probably needed it anyway.
