Mommy, Mommy, Mommy

girl raising handMy children are in the phase known as “Call-Mommy-every-30 seconds.”  At least I hope and pray that it’s just a phase!

My middle child [5 years old] seems to be doing it as habit without even realizing it. The other day I started saying her name whenever she said, “Mommy.”  Then she would say, “What?”  I’d answer, “You called me.”  She’d just look at me like I was going nuts.  [I've got news for her - I'm already there.]

I’ve discussed before that it doesn’t matter if Daddy is right in front of them and I’m in the next room.  Do they call, “Daddy?”  Oh, no.  It’s “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.” We all went shopping together – together – and I was ready to hide and never come out.  They were each saying “Mommy” until it seemed like it was all I heard.  How does my husband just tune them out?!  If asking questions is the sign of a bright child – my children could classify as geniuses!

And the tapping on my arm!  [tap-tap] Yoy!  [tap-tap] It’s light and easy. [tap-tap] Doesn’t hurt at all. [tap-tap]  It just doesn’t stop! [tap-tap] if I end up in an asylum you can bet it’ll be from the tap-tap-tapping.

Please tell me that this too shall pass!

I hate to tell you this, but my kids still drive me crazy with “momma, momma!” Sad thing is I’ve learned to tune them out, and now my husband says “they’re calling you!” Trust me it’s much worse when the hubby is helping the kids! Some days you just want to hide. There are times when we go shopping I tell them no talking allowed. They don’t like it, but I forget everything when they won’t stop.

LOL…what’s funny is its the exact opposite in my house. One of my girls will ask me to do something for them and my wife will offer to help. They say “No, I want daddy to help me!”

Wow… sounds like you live in my house!! LOL My 5-yr-old is the worst one too!! I think he is saying Mom or mommy every 2 seconds!! And I don’t know how many times I have said to someone… they just run right by daddy to me!! Daddy is sitting right in the living room and they run up to the bathroom to bother mommy in shower!! OY!! At least I know I’m not the only one!! :-)

I’m sure this will pass. I think your kids do that because they feel much better when you’re around. They feel really at ease. And I’m sure you’ll miss this once they’re all grown up. :)
