She Can Spell

Scrappy alphabet patchwork quilt. My oldest daughter is learning to read.  She has formally learned about half of the alphabet in K5.  I say formally because she really already knew it from listening to her brother.

I thought that my son did well in Kindergarten and learned quickly, but she has been even easier to teach.  Guess it was a good thing he was first. Maybe it was me that was making it harder since his first year of school was my first year of homeschool.  Nah, she’s easier.

Last week she announced, “Mommy I can spell TV. T-V” Then she grinned.
I chuckled and asked, “Can you spell CD?”  ”Yes. C-D”
Her Daddy asked, “Can you spell DVD?” She was getting fast now. “D-V-D!”
We were all chuckling by now.
“VHS?” “V-H-S!”
“UPS?” All three of the kids said, “U-P-S!”
Then the 3 year old asked, “FedEx?” And just like that they were stumped.
