The thing that stands out to me the most about the book A Lady Like Sarah by Margaret Brownley is how different it is. That is a compliment! I can’t think of any other book I’ve read that is like this one. I fell in love with the characters and would love to hear more about them.
The main hero, Justin Wells, spreads the gospel by his tongue and his actions. The heroine, Sarah Prescott, is willing to listen and learn. First there is the problem that she’s sentenced to hang and he’s a preacher. Throw in some outlaw brothers, a new-born babe, Indians, rotten lawmen, Moses the mule – even a quilting circle. It all made for a great book.
The only thing I’m not fond of is the cover picture. The slight resemblance to Lindsey Lohan just bothers me. Sorry.
Here’s the backcover copy:
Sarah Prescott has never known a respectable life; just a hardscrabble childhood and brothers who taught her to shoot straight.
Justin Wells left Boston in disgrace, heading out alone on the dusty trail to Texas. But when the once-respected clergyman encounters a feisty redhead in handcuffs with a dying US Marshall at her side, their journey takes a dramatic turn.
His high society expectations and Sarah’s outlaw habits clash from the start. With a price on her head and a sweet orphan in tow, Justin and Sarah make the difficult journey toward Rocky Creek. There justice will be meted out hopefully with a portion of grace.
You can find out more information at the author’s site. You can read the first chapter at Where the Story Begins.

Great book. Enjoyed the testimony of each trying to be a good example for the Lord. Looking forward to next book.
