First Eye Exam

This morning I took all 3 children to the eye doctor’s office. Being the organized, ahead of time person that I am [cough, cough] I had a post all pre-scheduled for you. Okay, I had the idea, but not the time or energy to write it. Instead you get to hear about our eye exams.

I’ve worn glasses since about 2nd grade so I’m very familiar with “1 or 2?”, “2 or 1.” My husband didn’t have an eye exam like that until after we were married! He’s blessed with better than 20/20 vision. I’m praying that all my children inherited his vision.

They did very well at the doctors. First the assistant took pictures of their eyes through the machine in the picture above. This was actually the first time I got to see the screen on the other side of the machine. Some of the technology is just amazing. Then we all went back to the exam room. We just kind of jumbled everybody together instead of having one kid do everything and then redo everything with the next 2.

They got to wear big 3D glasses and point to the pictures that “popped out.” They got to hold the funny shape thing to cover one eye and read letters or name pictures. Most fun of all – sitting in the big chair that made them “so tall.” I got to explain the meaning of dilated with my own eyes as an example.

Thankfully our son has 20/15 vision, and both girls have 20/20! As a reward for being good [and because Mommy was hungry] we went to “Old McDonalds.” I’ll just make them eat some carrots later so their vision stays good. ;)

Oh your kids are so lucky! However, I don’t think that McDonalds is a good option for health))))
