Fun At The Creek

Last week the creek beckoned us to come and visit it. My dad brought along my 19 month old nephew and we introduced him to the art of rock throwing. He quickly mastered it.

As we stood back watching the 5 kids find treasures and make splashes the 19 month old started to wobble. Rock in one hand, feet on the edge- he was all set for a very cold tumble. Dad and I saw him about the same time. I took two steps and grabbed his arm so the little guy only got wet below the knees.

Dad however, was farther back. He wasn’t able to get a solid footing on the slippery rocks to stop his momentum and he went “kersplushie” just like the rocks did. The interesting part is that he started to fall backwards, but twisted his leg around and was able to land in a push-up position. He kept his wallet dry and avoided a hard landing on the rocks.

The 5 kids were all motionless with their mouths hanging open. I alternated between trying to be sympathetic and laughing my head off. He was able to laugh about it the next day.

Unfortunately I did not get a picture of Dad falling in the water even though I had my camera in my hand! I did put some video clips together to share with you.
