Some people like free-falling, and I guess that falling in love might be fun; but most falls are not fun. Yesterday I fell. It sounds simple when I say it like that. Like I stumbled over something or missed a few steps. But that’s not what happened. I fell. The bad, screaming kind of fall.
I was standing on a tote. Yes, I know I should have gotten something else to stand on, but I’m 5’1 and a half and I stand on whatever is closest. I’ve stood on a lot of things in my life. Anyhow, when I started to step down I fell backwards and managed to bang my low back as well as my right hip and knee before landing on my bottom with my legs above my head. The crowning touch was smacking the back of my head against a small plastic 3 drawer storage container. Then the rest of the boxes fell down beside me.
I’ve decided to blame it on the weather. If it wouldn’t be acting like July outside I wouldn’t have needed to get to my summer clothes. It’s supposed to be rainy and chilly in April, isn’t it? It’s totally the weather’s fault.
My two oldest children came running. They offered to call Daddy and my daughter brought me their Nemo ice pack. They also stood 3 feet away, looked at each other, and said, “She never did that before!”
Praise the Lord that my chiropractor had an opening that morning even though he prepped my children to remind Mommy not to stand on boxes. Praise the Lord that my head didn’t hit the corner of anything. Praise the Lord that nothing was bleeding and that my children know their Daddy’s phone number in case something did actually happen.
Today I just feel a bit sore, and like I have a gooney egg at the base of my skull. Which I do – so it’s totally okay to feel that way.

Ohhhh Jendi, that sounds soooo painful. I’m glad that it wasn’t worse and there was no blood! I’m vertically challenged as well and often choose the most precarious of objects to stand on – this is clearly a gentle reminder to think before climbing (kinda like a kid). Thanks for sharing! Feel better soon:)
