My husband and I are officially landlords. We have made the house handicap accessible and now have a Vietnam Veteran living there. Mr Smith is very nice and spoils my children. He actually used to babysit my husband but has lived in a different area for many years. Not only is he a nice man and a Vietnam Veteran – he is a Green Beret. While trying to explain what that is to my children I played the song for them. [video in second part of this post ] Part of the chorus says,
“One hundred men will test today, but only three win the Green Beret.”
My son got excited and declared, “We know Mr Smith is a Green Beret and the man singing the song is too. That just leaves one more. Who is the other Green Beret, Mommy?”

My 3 yo daughter has memorized the chorus. She said that she wants to be a “Green Parade” when she grows up. When I explained that it’s for boys she decided to be an artist instead.
Mr. Smith wants to jump 1 more time so that his jump number is 250. I told him I’d go with him if he does. Have any of you ever jumped out of an airplane?

“Green Beret” is one of my favorite songs!! I love it! It is great to watch the kids start to understand what our military is and what they are doing.
I have never jumped out of an airplane but I think it would be so much fun!!
How fun! I’ve never jumped out of anything, and I’d probably be terrified to do so, but I might like to someday.
