This is documentation of my first time making red sauce from scratch. I’ve always wanted to try, but needed a recipe that I thought sounded good. Then Jen at My Kitchen Addiction started her Kitchen Bootcamp and the idea for May was to make a sauce. Just the incentive I needed.
Warning: I’m not a gourmet cook AT ALL. I’m a ready made, box mix kind of girl.

Great video. I’m a box-mix kinda cook too…luckily my family loves sauce from the jar. But I have tasted what really great homemade red sauce is like and it certainly is better!

Sauce -of any kind- is so hard to master. Loved the ingredients you used. Since we are beef lovers here, this is a good recipe to give it a try.

If your husband doesn’t like the anise/fennel flavor from the sausage, I agree that it would be delicious with hamburger. You can also find “meatloaf mix” at the store, which is combination of beef, pork, and veal and tastes great in meatballs and meat sauces. I’d love to hear how the second batch of sauce goes… I’m sure it’ll be great!

I love homemade sauce. I have trouble with the seasonings in it. I just can’t get it to taste like mom’s sauce..
I want to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing. I plan to use the ground beef.

I love italian food. This looks really good and pretty easy to do! I haven’t created a homemade tomato sauce, so this has given me some ideas!!
