When my son was a baby he didn’t like to sleep. Have you read that small babies tend to sleep a lot? Nobody gave that memo to my firstborn. Almost eight years later he’s still not a big sleeper.
He gets up around 7:30 am like clockwork. There are no windows in his room so it’s not the sunlight waking him up. It doesn’t matter if we’re home or away. My husband and I are still in bed so it’s not us making noise to wake him up. He makes noise and wakes us up!
Do children become teenagers and all of a sudden never want to get up?
We’ve tried keeping him up late. Doesn’t work; just makes him grumpy the next day. I’ve tried telling him to go back to bed or letting him try to sleep in my bed with no luck and usually more frustration. I’ve tried days with naps and days without naps; lots of activity and little activity; if you name it we’ve probably tried it; but he still gets up around 7:30. On days that all 3 kids sleep until 8:00 it’s like a huge bonus.
The good thing is that I don’t have to set an alarm.
I must add that he does very well with playing quietly [usually Legos] or reading by himself as long as it’s not too much longer till the girls get up to play with him.
P.S. Those of you that have children that regularly get up even earlier than 7:30 AM – my sincerest sympathies.

3 of my 4 children are early risers. They are up between 7-7:30 am. They get that from me. Well, I used to be an early riser until I had my 4th child. Now I want to sleep in late! LOL Oh well. I guess I can sleep in when they are grown and on their own, right? hehe Good luck getting yours to sleep in!

Patrick is regularly up before 7:00. It’s great for school mornings, but truly sucks on weekends. I try to tell him that he can sleep in on weekends and doesn’t have to get up. He doesn’t care. He’s still up.
Recently he slept in until 8:30. I had no idea what to do!
Abigail is usually up by 7:30.
I hope they learn to sleep in when they get to be teenagers. Although I am sure it will frustrate me then, I am really looking forward to it now! =)

When my son was born the docs @ the hospital had me breastfeeding every 2 hrs on the DOT, so then when we went home my son would wake up EVERY 2 hours for the first MONTH! I was sooo exhausted…yikes & know he’s an early riser for SURE! I dunno where that comes from because I am NOT a morning person.
