Starting An Online Business

be your own boss Lately I’ve gotten requests from several of my readers asking about making money blogging or online. The possibilities are endless – and so are the scams. I want to tell you about somebody that gives great information and encouragement: The Barefoot Executive – Carrie Wilkerson. I’ve followed her for several years and am still impressed with her. I trust her.

Something that she says regularly – in slightly different ways – really resonated with me:

I will not apologize for my faith, being family focused or for asking to be treated like a lady. I won’t apologize for my accent, my dress code or my appreciation for manners. Those things are all part of who I am and I refuse to apologize for that.

Those of you that really know me know that I am not mainstream. Those of you that don’t know me – let’s just say that I am very conservative. When I first started venturing into the online world I was afraid to make that known. Would I get hateful comments or email? Thanks to Carrie I gained boldness to venture in the online business world and start changing my life.

Listen to her story in this video and see what you think:

She recently published a book titled: The Barefoot Executive: The Ultimate Guide for Being Your Own Boss and Achieving Financial Freedom. The even bigger news is that I bought it! Why is that big news? I can’t remember the last time I bought a brand new book. I get them for review, swap, check them out, and buy used; but I don’t buy new books. Except for Carrie’s book – I bought it the first day she had it for sale and started reading it as soon as it came. I haven’t finished it yet; I’m reading in bite size pieces and trying to absorb all that I can.

She is a heroine to me with an honest business. She grew it to the point that her husband stayed home to help her and that is how they support their family. She regularly interacts with big names in the marketing world – all around the world. She’s been on CNN, works with Google, and much more. Yet – get this! – when I messaged her on Facebook I got a personalized reply from her. THREE TIMES! When I thanked her for making me feel special by replying to a “virtual nobody” this was her reply: a virtual nobody? what does that even mean? we are all equal. seriously – don’t let the ‘visibility’ fool you – no one is more important than anyone else -and anyone that tries to make you feel that way is not a mentor worth studying with. no divas allowed.

I have to say that Carrie Wilkerson is awesome! And I hope that you at least – at least! – check out the free chapter of her book that she has made available.
