My short answer is for modesty, femininity, and testimony.
My longer answer is because I want to please the Lord.
I know that He accepts me as I am. I know that wearing certain clothes is not a condition for getting in to Heaven. I know that He loves me whatever I wear.
But the thing is…
I love Him.
I love Him so much that I want to please Him. I want to be as modest as He wants me to be. I want to be as feminine as I can – for Him. I want it to be readily apparent that I have something different in my life.
I accomplish those goals better by wearing skirts or split skirts all the time.
I wear a wedding and engagement ring all the time to show that I love my husband and belong to him. I don’t wear my rings to gain my husband’s approval or make my husband love me. I want to wear them to show the world that I belong to one man.
I wear skirts all the time to show that I love my Lord and belong to Him. I don’t wear my skirts to gain my Lord’s approval or make myself acceptable to Him. I want to wear them to show the world that I belong to the Lord.
I’m not wearing skirts to gain His approval – or anyone else’s approval here on earth. I wear skirts to show my love for Him.

What an excellent post that 100% avoids any legalism! I will be sharing it with my girls who prefer pants even though they know I would prefer them in skirts and dresses.
