This week’s 5 Minute Friday theme is “Open.”
My mind flies to the open calendar that I’ve been filling up. I have always had lots to do. I will probably be that way till I die. The concept of being bored is unacceptable to me; so is having nothing to do. If I had a totally open schedule with no planned activities I still have
- music to make,
- books to read,
- material to sew,
- snacks to bake,
- roads to walk,
- money to earn,
- places to volunteer,
- walls to decorate,
- friends to have over,
- even games to master.
“Open” nights are now family times – and occasionally they even have to be scheduled in. I remember well the manager that told me, “I was bored at home with just my son so I got a job.” I was shocked! Bored at home!? I was and am never bored at home.
There is something in my DNA that pushes me to stay busy. Is it always a productive busy-ness? No, but I’m working on that. With the Lord’s help I will find His will and what He wants me to do through this coming year. When I do that the busy-ness is less stressful because His peace is with me. My goal is to focus better, make better use of time, view my schedule through eternity’s view. It will not be an open schedule for long.
How’s your schedule shaping up?
This post was written for 5 Minute Friday. Her prompt for this week is Open. Here’s the list of my other 5 Minute Friday posts.

I have exactly the same sort of problem with staying busy–as opposed to being productive! Not always easy to know what God’s will is for us, is it?
