I’ve never been one to spend much on sneakers. Wal-mart, Payless, Kmart pairs did just fine. I remember being little and wearing the toes out of pair after pair. Then as a young adult I can remember years that I didn’t wear sneakers at all. As a mother I occasionally bought sneakers or used hand me down ones. The experience was never great; I just tolerated them as needed. But now – Now I enjoy wearing my sneakers almost every day.
When I spoke at the FitBloggin Conference I got a pair of New Balance Sneakers with the swag bag. Wow! Then I heard the people from New Balance speaking in the one session. They have seriously done A LOT of research on how the foot and shoes affect the whole body. [effect? affect? you get the idea] They have different designs for walking, for running, for running on different types of ground, for exercising, for core exercises, stability – I don’t think they have one for swimming. Anyhow – I was impressed.
After 8 months of wearing the sneaker I still like it. They don’t hurt my feet – even when I wear them from 9AM to 9PM; and I’ve noticed a big difference in the tiredness in my legs when wearing something besides my sneakers all day long. I do remember a bit of adjustment when I first started wearing them; they used different muscles than my flat sneakers. I adjusted quickly and haven’t gone back.
Disclosure: As I said, I was given the sneakers, but the opinions are 100% my own and I have added my affiliate link.
